The terms and conditions of the Rent-a-Website service are below.
We have tried to keep them as simple as possible but if there is anything you are unsure about please just email us and we will be happy to respond.
"You" refers to the renter of the website "We" refers to Rent-a-Website. By subscribing to any rental pack offered by Rent-a-Website you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
1) By subscribing to the Rent-a-Website service you are agreeing to a minimum term rental period of 6 months from the date of your subscription.
2) Your subscription cannot be downgraded during the initial 6 month period, however it can be upgraded at any time.
3) If after the initial 6 month period has finished you wish to have a different template or a redesign of your site you will be entering into a further 6 month minimum period rental for the new design/template.
4) Rent-a-Website does not include websites that require PHP or e-commerce sites.
5) You are responsible for the accuracy of the content of your site and are liable for any slander/misrepresentation that arises from such content.
6) Rental of the website is payable monthly in advance. Upon cancelling your rental agreement your website will remain active for the remainder of the rental period you have paid for. If you cancel your rental within the first 6 months of entering into the rental agreement you will be liable for the rental cost for the remainder of that 6 month period.
7) All domain names are registered by and on behalf of Rent-a-Website. You have no rights of ownership to the domain name, site design, or site template. After 6 months rental you can apply to have the domain name transferred into your ownership for a fee of £30.
8) You may request the content of your site is changed once every month. If you need it changing more than this we will bill you for £20 per hour or part thereof to effect such a change. We will notify you of this cost before the changes are made.
9) The domain names included with your website rental are either ".com"; ".org"; ".net"; ".info"; ".biz"; ".eu"; ".co.uk"; ".org.uk"; or ".me.uk". If you require a different style of domain name you may have to pay an additional charge.
10) The rental packs are as follows:
Standard pack - includes a 1-3 page website personally tailored to your requirements from one of our available templates. It also includes domain name rental, domain hosting, up to 5 personal email accounts, and a monthly update.
Optimised Standard pack - includes a 1-3 page website personally tailored to your requirements from one of our available templates. It also includes domain name rental, domain hosting, up to 5 personal email accounts, and a monthly update. Also includes optimisation for improved search engine ranking.
Expanded pack - includes a 3-5 page website personally tailored to your requirements from one of our available templates. It also includes domain name rental, domain hosting, up to 10 personal email accounts, and a monthly update.
Optimised Expanded pack - includes a 3-5 page website personally tailored to your requirements from one of our available templates. It also includes domain name rental, domain hosting, up to 10 personal email accounts, and a monthly update. Also includes optimisation for improved search engine ranking.
11) The rental price will not increase within the initial 6 month period. If after this time we need to increase the rental charge we will notify you of this 14 days in advance.
12) All websites rented are subject to a fair use policy where bandwidth is limited to 1GB per month. This equates to approximately 5,000 visitors to your site each month. If you exceed 1GB of bandwidth per month we reserve the right to temporarily restrict your service.
13) Rent-a-Website is not held responsible for the content of your website or any actions that arise from such content. Likewise we are not responsible for any emails you receive to your website email account. It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate protection in place, such as anti-virus software and so forth.
14) Rent-a-Website will not enter into a rental agreement with anyone who uses their website to engage in illegal activity, pornography or online gambling. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone engaged in unethical or illegal or immoral behaviour and reserve the right to immediately terminate any website rental that at any point engages in such activity.
15) We reserve the right to amend and change these terms and conditions at any point without prior notice.
